The 2023 S/S Fabrics and Accessories Trend for Women’s Wear

1. Fabric Manipulation

For S/S 23, pleats and tucks serve as a low-impact design detail that can be used to flatter a variety of body types, reach a wide audience, and are uncomplicated to craft, enhancing the texture and efficiency of cutting and sewing with a consistently rising commercial appeal.
2. Layered Sheers
@wgsn
For S/S 23, the sheer layer fabric is not flat or single, double layered to create a gentler wearing experience. Ruffles, 3D floral fabric and embroidered lace are incorporated into the silhouette of the sheer design. Examples include adding new print elements to T-shirts and adding sheer layers to classic black dresses. As consumers' work lives shift to a more flexible approach, traditional office uniforms will be modified, while redefining the '90s revival with woven shell tops geared toward business casual wear that will lead the way again.
3. Kidult

For S/S 23, a new generation of designers chose to break with tradition in apparel by adding clashing surface textures, mixed-colored crochet, and whimsical handmade embellishments to clothing fabrics.
The design concept was born out of the carefree period of people's childhood when the search for pure play and abandonment was paramount. Examples include naive flowers embroidered in denim for holiday wear or rainbow symbols designed in a retro 1970s style.
4. Jeweled beading

For S/S 23, in keeping with the principles of sustainability, more and more alternative sequin options are beginning to emerge, and the trend toward imperfect beads is "handmade" to create new ways to simulate the sun and moon of the day and night. Pearls and glass beads can be used as accents for holiday costumes. With the emphasis on individuality, the main idea is to use imperfection as a design feature; there are no identical products that can be copied.
5. Glossed surfaces
@wgsn
For S/S 23, a rubber coating manufactured using a low-impact method adds a super gloss effect. The metallic fabric will be used as a new way to develop leather alternatives, while the high gloss coating is weatherproof. Hyper bright and soft metallic materials can also be used for satin and skirt fabrics.
